Aims and Objectives

  • Assess the effectiveness of approaches taken by governments and national coordination organisations for dealing with maritime security and coordination;
  • Discuss the role of and innovative strategies utilised by the user states and private organisations such as shipping industry, insurance companies, oil and gas companies in ensuring the safety and security of sea-lanes;
  • Discuss and prepare legal guidelines for achieving international navigation regime similar to the international aviation regime and discuss key legal issues arising from piracy;
  • Discuss various risk-assessment methods and short-term and long-term solutions with industry and governmental authorities;
  • Provide platform for networking and building effective public private partnership with the leading oil, gas, petrochemicals, tankers and shipping companies;
  • Offer a comprehensive database addressing the issues of maritime security, anti-piracy and safety and security of maritime lanes;
  • Discuss guidelines with regards to anti-piracy communications and co-ordination measures.
